Description
Grand Rapids Community College is seeking candidates to conduct three choral ensembles and teach courses within the discipline of Music. Candidates should possess an interest in working with diverse student populations from a wide range of age, ethnicity, national origin and ability; engaging with innovative teaching strategies; assessing student learning outcomes; demonstrating a commitment to lifelong learning and professional development; and, providing service to our students, the college, and our community at large.
Educational Credentials
* Masters of Music in Choral Conducting or Music Education with a choral emphasis required.
* Preferred: Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Choral Conducting.
Work Experience
* Collegiate teaching experience in the field of music required. Work as a graduate teaching assistant, part time faculty, or adjunct faculty are acceptable.
* Minimum of 3 years teaching music in K-12 schools required.
* Experience with collegiate level choral conducting required. Work as a graduate teaching assistant, part time faculty, or adjunct faculty are acceptable.
* Community College Teaching Experience preferred.
* Experience working with adults from diverse backgrounds and with varying academic skills preferred.
* Experience working with traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds with varying academic skills preferred.
* Additional experience teaching or the ability to teach any of the following: Music History, Music Appreciation, American Popular Music, Applied Voice, Studio Class, Choral Conducting, Introduction to Music Education.
* Participation in professional development and/or continuous improvement activities in order to remain current in the field
