Description
The School of Music (www.udel.edu/music) in the College of Arts and Sciences seeks a full-time temporary Assistant Professor of Voice to teach applied voice and courses in diction, pedagogy, and/or literature. This is a one-year position which is renewable for up to five years.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Teach applied lessons in classical and a broad range of styles to voice majors and music education majors with a voice concentration, hold weekly studio classes, recruit undergraduate majors in Applied Music (Performance) and Music Education, and teach courses in lyric diction, voice pedagogy, and/or voice literature as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will possess the following:
* Master’s degree in voice performance or pedagogy; preference will be given to candidates with a terminal degree in voice performance/pedagogy or commensurate experience
* Experience teaching classical applied voice at the university and/or community college level; preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching musical theater/contemporary applied voice and courses in diction, pedagogy, and/or literature
* A strong background in evidence-based voice pedagogy; preference will be given to candidates with experience conducting and presenting research for professional service organizations (e.g., Voice Foundation, NATS, NOA, PAVA, VASTA)
* Experience and proficiency as a vocal soloist; preference will be given to candidates with an established record of professional performing experience as a vocal soloist
* A strong belief in the value of a robust choral tradition and experience recruiting undergraduate voice majors
