Description
Austin Peay State University invites applications for an applied Voice position at the rank of Assistant Professor (Soprano or Mezzo-soprano preferred; all voice types considered). This is a regular full-time, 9-month tenure-track faculty position commencing in August 2026.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
* Teach private voice lessons in all music degree programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
* Direct and facilitate APSU’s Opera Workshop.
* Teach Vocal Literature, Diction for Singers, and other courses as appropriate depending on departmental needs and the candidate’s expertise.
* Engage in significant professional/creative /scholarly activities.
* Advise undergraduate and graduate students and participate in the assessment of juries, junior-level hearings, and recital hearings.
* Collaborate with the Voice and Instrumental areas; with other departments across campus; and with area musicians and music educators.
* Actively participate in professional organizations allied to the vocal profession.
* Maintain an active and ongoing recruiting agenda for the department.
* Serve on faculty committees.
Required Minimum Qualifications
* Master’s degree with extensive performing and teaching experience.?
* Potential for a substantial creative/research/performance agenda.?
* Demonstrated aptitude for classroom teaching and personal concern for students and their achievement. ?
* A commitment to developing strong relationships with area schools and studio teachers to support the recruiting efforts of the department, college, and university.?
