Description
Grambling State Univ seeks Assistant Professor of Music Educ./Choir Director.
Qualifications:
Master’s in Music Education
Evidence of 5 years experience teaching school instrumental music, grades 4-8 or 9-12
Knowledge of current methodologies in music education
Music Teaching licensure (current or past)
Articulated vision to build a vibrant and diverse undergraduate music education program
Strong written communication skills
Ability to travel independently on a regular basis to off-campus sites
Duties & Responsibilities:
Teach courses in Music Education, music seminar, and other courses depending on departmental needs and the candidate’s expertise (e.g., Woodwind, Brass, String or vocal Pedagogy, Elementary Classroom Methods)
Actively engage in curriculum development, grant writing, student recruitment, which includes visiting high schools to connect with music teachers and prospective music students, attending music education conferences, and representing the Department of Music at recruitment events on and off campus. Serve on school, college, and university committees as assigned
Teach courses in the Department and to direct the University Choir. Recruit, audition, select and train musicians for the Grambling State University Choir. Overseeing students’ preparation for public performances
