Description
The Department of Music at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University invite applications for a full-time, three-year term appointment as Visiting Assistant Professor of Music (Voice) to begin in August 2022. The position requires a D.M.A or other appropriate terminal degree in music (ABD considered) in Vocal Performance. Responsibilities will include teaching the load equivalent of three undergraduate courses per semester, developing an active performing profile, service to the department and institution and undergraduate recruitment and advising. The successful candidate will be expected to teach Applied Voice lessons to majors, minors and non-major students, Vocal Pedagogy, Vocal Diction and Vocal Performance Workshop. Demonstrated keyboard proficiency is required, at a level sufficient to support standard repertoire in lessons and juries. Ability to make contributions to departmental and general education course offerings is preferred.
Qualifications Required:
Doctorate in vocal performance (ABD considered)
Willingness to develop and/or maintain an active performing profile
Teaching experience – professional level
Demonstrated teaching excellence in applied lessons, vocal pedagogy, vocal diction
Ability to lead and collaborate in Vocal Performance Workshop
Demonstrated keyboard proficiency
Strong commitment to recruiting and advising
