Mezzo-soprano (possibly also other voice) for the roles of "Gretel/Grete" and “Hänsel/Hans” in "Hänsel und Gretel" after Engelbert Humperdinck in Hamburg in spring 2022.

For our production of "Hansel and Gretel" after Engelbert Humperdinck in spring 2022 we are looking for an opera singer (playing age 65+) for the role of "Gretel" or "Grete". (Mezzo-soprano or soprano, part will be partly transposed), and an opera singer (male part, playing age 65+) for the role of “Hänsel” or “Hans.”

In the production, the characters, including the distribution of the singing parts, are newly created, since the setting is also not the same as in the fairy tale based on the Brothers Grimm: Hans and Grete meet late in their lives - in a retirement home.

Three opera arias (preferably one by Mozart, preferably a German aria) and one German art song must be prepared for the audition.

Prerequisite for participation is an application with CV, repertoire list and ideally audio samples, which will be sent to us in advance.

The Opernloft is a multi-award-winning private theater in Hamburg. The house has been a springboard for singers since 2007.

An overnight stay in Hamburg or the surrounding area is an advantage.
