Description
The Department of Music at Cornell University invites applications for a 2/3-time Visiting Lecturer position in Choral Programs for the period January 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022. The Visiting Lecturer will conduct the Chorus (http://cuchorus.com/) and Glee Club (https://www.gleeclub.com/) on an interim basis. The Cornell University Chorus is an auditioned treble choir, and the Cornell University Glee Club is an auditioned tenor/bass choir. The choirs have a proud history of touring, commissioning, and performing at the highest levels, appearing in concerts both separately and together. The ideal candidate will possess experience with the creative programming of repertoire associated with these types of ensembles. In addition to excellent musical skills, the successful candidate will demonstrate high-level management and communication skills while fostering a healthy culture of student leadership.
The Visiting Lecturer will work closely with Stephen Spinelli in the management of the choral programs.
Minimum qualifications: Master of Music degree (Doctorate preferred) with experience teaching college-level choral ensembles. Proficiency with teaching classes on Zoom as well as in person.
