All activities take place in the ‘Bastide Royale,’ the historic medieval center of the old town, including in its charming theater, a spectacular baroque chapel, and the main town square. The program runs for five weeks, from 24 June to 28 July 2024, as part of a summer festival that includes full productions with orchestra of Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Offenbach’s M. Choufleuri restera chez lui, masterclasses, and several concerts of French art song, opera, and other vocal music.
Costing significantly less than many other European Young Artist Programs, Lyric Arts France also offers a variety of Tuition & Scholarships ranging from full-rides to support for tuition or accommodation and food.
Lyric Arts France is intended for emerging young professional singers, with opportunities for solo performance for all participants, and for pianists, stage directors, stage managers, and arts administrators from around the world.
The Young Artists Program is being launched as a registered French and American non-profit by internationally renowned British stage director Jonathan Eaton (Artistic Director), French baritone Michel Ramonet (Festival Honorary President) and American administrator Scott Timm (General Manager). Jonathan and Scott were responsible for founding and running for many years the highly successful Young Artists Program associated with Pittsburgh Festival Opera’s while it ran a full summer season summer festival. Michel Ramonet is a celebrated French operatic baritone and voice teacher, who leads an international team of voice teachers, coaches, conductors, and directors in offering individual sessions, group classes, masterclasses, and coachings.
Lyric Arts France will function in a variety of languages, principally in English, French, and German as needed. The program offers a marvelous opportunity to enrich your understanding of French music, culture and language, to live and work in the heart of France for five weeks, and to broaden your knowledge of French and European opera and vocal literature. It is designed to offer a wide range of solo performance opportunities for all participants.
