Description
Oklahoma State University’s Department of Theatre is seeking qualified candidates with experience in music direction, vocal coaching, and accompanying for a non-tenure Assistant Professor of Professional Practice beginning in August 2022. This is a full time, nine-month position responsible for teaching private voice lessons, accompanying musical theatre performance courses, and music directing department musicals. Interest in piloting additional courses in music theory and analysis in support of the BFA Musical Theatre program is also encouraged. A successful faculty candidate will be able to teach from a dynamic intercultural perspective and mentor underrepresented students.
Preferred qualifications and experience include: an MM or higher in piano performance, collaborative piano, vocal pedagogy, or conducting; strong sight-reading skills; successful higher education teaching and mentorship; demonstrated effectiveness of instruction in musical theatre voice technique; and evidence of professional achievement as a music director. Additional knowledge of music theory and analysis is highly desirable.
