Auditions for Once. By invitation only. October 6 & October 7, 2025 starting at 7pm.

Submission:

Everyone in this production must play an instrument and serve as the Band /Orchestration for the production.

By appointment: Appointments are determined by invitation after submission. Submit to Airtable.

Applications are being accepted via Actor’s Access as well, but must be submitted no later than September 22.

Open Call: Starting 7pm.

Bring: Copy of headshot and resume. Please prepare 16–32 bars of a song in the style of the show (folk, rock, pop, country).You may sing from the show.

You must accompany yourself while singing on one of the instruments specified below.

An accompanist will not be provided.

Required Proficiency Options: Guitar, Mandolin, Electric Bass, Violin/Viola, Cello, Banjo, Accordion/Concertina, Piano (unless auditioning for Girl, piano should not be your only instrument), Percussion (Cajon/djembe, etc.)

Secondary Instruments (not as sole instrument): Ukulele, Melodica, Harmonica, Drum Kit, Irish flute/penny whistle, Bodhran, “Surprise us!”

In the room, you will only play one instrument; additional instruments may be shown via video submission.

Prior to your appointment, if invited, you may be asked to submit a video demonstrating your ability on each relevant instrument you play (approx. 30–60 seconds per instrument, edited together into one file).

There will be a piano in the audition room. Any other instruments must be brought by you. Please do not bring a drum kit.

If you’re unable to attend General Auditions, video submissions will be accepted by invitation. To express your interest, please use the “Comments or Questions” section on Airtable. Slate with your name, pronouns, interested role(s), and go directly into your song.

Rehearsals:

At Chance Theater, Anaheim, CA

Beginning December 8, 2025. Weekday evenings and weekends.

Performances:

At Chance Theater, on the Cripe Stage

January 23 – February 22, 2026

Thursday 7:30pm, Friday 8pm, Saturday 3pm and 8pm, and Sunday 3pm

Special Performance: January 25, 2026 at 7pm (instead of 3pm)

Pay:

$16.50/hour for rehearsals and performances for 10-25 hours per week. No minimum.

Note: All roles are non-union. All actors must be local to the Los Angeles/Orange County area. No travel or housing is provided.

Performers under 18 will be cast as volunteers and will receive a $200 reimbursable stipend.
