The Theatre Department of Columbia College Chicago seeks applicants for a full-time teaching-track faculty position in Musical Theatre Voice beginning August 2023.
This faculty member will oversee the curriculum of voice, collaborating with faculty and staff in the music department, select and supervise other voice faculty, and teach 4 classes each semester. In collaboration with other full-time faculty in dance and acting for musical theatre, they will oversee curriculum revision and implementation of new classes, create recommended elective lists and tracks for students in different discipline lines. They will supervise the accompanists for classes, rehearsals, and performances and will identify and mentor assistant musical directors for productions in the department. Other duties will also include music directing, vocal coaching and supervising the band/orchestra for the mainstage musical theatre productions. This faculty member has considerable input into the selection of productions in the mainstage season and a strong role in creating the culture of the department.
In addition to expertise in their field, successful candidates must exhibit excellent teaching and scholarly credentials and be passionate about undergraduate and graduate education.
Required Qualifications
MFA, Doctorate or other terminal degree or musical theatre. Candidates with a post-secondary degree and significant professional experience at the highest level may also be considered.
