Independence Community College (ICC) is seeking applications for the tenure-track position of Associate Professor of Vocal Music and Choral Director.

Position Summary

Responsible for performing a wide variety of duties, including the following: teaching undergraduate music courses as part of both general education offerings and the established Associate of Arts in Music degree track (Music Appreciation, Music Theory, Ear Training/Sight Singing, Applied Private Vocal Instruction, Choir, Vocal Ensembles, and other courses based on credentials); leading student and community choral groups, including the Community Chorale and Chamber Singers; providing regular assessment data from taught courses and cocurricular ensembles; collaborating with Instrumental Music and the Theatre Department on the production of musicals yearly; recruiting for scholarships within the Music Department and for Vocal Music specifically to further grow the program; coordinating and conducting a minimum of two concerts per academic year; and other similar duties necessary to maintain and support vocal music, including budget management. Position requires flexible hours, reflecting day, evening and weekend rehearsal and performance opportunities.

Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Music with an emphasis in choral conducting or a master’s degree in a related field with 18 graduate credits in the concentration. The applicant’s degree must be from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Preferred qualifications include two or more years of community college teaching experience, high school teaching experience, experience working with a diverse student body, and experience with assessment.
