Ann Arbor Civic Theatre Audition
Description
ANN ARBOR CIVIC THEATRE presents
A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM by WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE
Open auditions: December 12 & 13 6:30 PM. Callbacks December 16, 6:30 PM.
Note: While auditions will be held in December, rehearsal will not begin until January, 2022.
This version of Shakespeare’s most popular comedy will be set in America in the 1980s. The humans are college students and staff, and the fairies resemble the pop stars of the MTV 80s. This version will be full of singing and dancing to pop songs of the period. There will be both singing and non-singing roles. All ages are welcome to audition.
SINGING AUDITIONS - Those attending singing auditions should prepare a minute to a minute and a half selection of a pop song from the 1980s. We will have a speaker and an aux cord available for you to plug into with your accompaniment track. The First Fairy, Titania, Moth, Cobweb, Peaseblossom, and Mustardseed will be singing roles. Other roles (especially Oberon and Puck) may also be given some singing lines, though final decisions about that will be held off until after casting. If you are comfortable singing at all, please prepare a singing audition.
Auditions will take place in the Ann Arbor Civic Theatre Studio at 322 W Ann Street in downtown Ann Arbor.
All participants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and be masked while inside A2CT spaces.
