Job Summary
Successful applicants will teach a select number of applied voice students.
Required Qualifications*
We seek an applied teacher with a terminal degree in classical voice. The successful applicant will be one who is interested in contributing to a vibrant vocal arts program dedicated to the overall development of the vocalist in the 21st century, in which flexibility of singing styles is an integral component. The ideal candidate will have prior academic experience in vocal pedagogy, excellent piano skills, and an understanding of the singing voice and vocal line. A documented history of collaboration and collegiality with co-workers and/or faculty members is crucial, and command of Italian, French, German andEnglish, including diction proficiency, with additional language proficiencies is considered a plus. The person in question should have knowledge of vocal pedagogy field as it exists today, an understanding of the singing voice and vocal line, and a vision for a methodology in the acquisition of performance skills that prepare students for the professional stage that closely aligns to the overall mission of the U-M School of Music, Theatre & Dance and the U-M Vocal Department.
