Texas Tech University seeks Associate Professor of Practice (Vocal Coaching).

The qualified candidate will instruct undergraduate and graduate voice majors in preparation of degree recitals, opera roles, and professional audition repertoire. The qualified candidate will also teach appropriate courses in the vocal performance undergraduate and graduate sequences including diction, song literature and opera literature. Musical collaboration for faculty recitals, guest artist recitals and faculty job interviews will also be required. Additional duties may include conducting operatic performances and instructing piano students in the collaborative piano program. Service duties may include performing to support activities related to recruitment, outreach and engagement; and membership on graduate committees and other School of Music committees.

The qualified candidate is required to have a Master of Music and have a minimum of ten years’ experience coaching at the post-secondary and/or professional level. An earned doctorate in music is preferred. Knowledge of English, (British and American), French, German, and Italian diction is also required. Experience coaching Spanish, Russian and Czech is preferred. The qualified candidate should demonstrate extensive experience performing and collaborating with vocal artists at the collegiate and/or professional levels. Preferred qualifications include successful teaching of related undergraduate and graduate courses at the university level, experience supervising graduate teaching assistants, and a commitment to and experience working with diverse student populations and first-generation students. Pursuit of external grants in support of research or creative activity, when appropriate and available in the faculty member’s field, is encouraged.
