The College of Liberal Arts at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for the director position (#131005) of the School of Music. Applicants must be eligible to meet the criteria for the rank of either associate professor or professor. Expedited tenure upon appointment possible. The start date for the position is August 1, 2022.

The successful candidate will lead the MTSU School of Music, a dynamic department that offers Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Arts, and Master of Music degree programs, in providing outstanding educational experiences to help ensure professional success. The School of Music seeks candidates who are committed to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and emphasize collaborative leadership and the ability to manage quotidian operations while focusing on long-range plans to sustain the growth and excellence associated with MTSU’s School of Music. The successful candidate will be dedicated to quality instruction and broader student success initiatives, have a distinguished record of scholarship and/or creative activity, and have the ability to inspire faculty and staff across diverse musical and academic programs. In addition, the successful candidate will provide faculty support, advocacy for the arts on campus and beyond, demonstrate effective management of personnel and budgets, and lead tangible efforts to promote diversity.
