The Department of Drama is establishing a search of qualified applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Teaching in Voice. In addition to demonstrating excellence in teaching and service, merit and promotion in the Professor of Teaching series requires outstanding and externally recognized contributions to research/creative activity in the discipline and/or pedagogy.

We seek an engaging and dynamic artist to teach singing in music theatre, classical and contemporary techniques. The successful candidate will have outstanding professional credits as well as a strong commitment to teaching, training, and working in a university environment. Candidates should also possess proficient piano skills. Additional training in dance, directing, acting, writing, music direction and/or other related areas of expertise is a plus. Candidates will demonstrate a pedagogical and professional profile that is compatible with our distinguished undergraduate music theatre degree program. We welcome candidates who bring a broadly integrated and interdisciplinary perspective.

Candidate Responsibilities:

• Provide individual, paired and group vocal technique lessons for music theatre students

• Teach area-related courses at the undergraduate and graduate level

• Mentor our culturally, economically, and intellectually diverse students

• Participate in departmental auditions and meetings as scheduled

• Externally recognized contributions to research/creative activity

Candidate Qualifications:

• Exhibited ability and accomplishment as dynamic studio teacher of all voice types

• Significant professional, ongoing performance experience

• Working knowledge of music theatre and contemporary catalogues

• Understanding of and demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion

• Bachelor's degree required
