Description

Auditions for Cincinnati Opera’s 2021 Summer Festival Chorus and mainstage roles will be held in the Music Hall Ballroom, 1241 Elm Street, Cincinnati, Ohio, on December 3, 4, and 5, 2020. Applications are to be completed through an online application process. Local applicants may choose to submit an audition video or audition in person, while all out-of-town applicants must submit a video audition.

The Cincinnati Opera Chorus and mainstage roles are paid, professional engagements under the jurisdiction of AGMA, the American Guild of Musical Artists. Residents from outside of the greater Cincinnati area are welcome and encouraged to audition. However, applicants should be aware that most chorus members and smaller mainstage roles tend to be cast locally.

Cincinnati Opera seeks applicants for the following mainstage roles:

Carmen – El Dancairo (tenor), Morales (baritone)

Tosca – Sciarrone (bass), Shepherd Boy (treble, soprano, or mezzo-soprano), Jailer (bass)

Castor and Patience – Ruthie (soprano), Jane/Leader (mezzo-soprano); must be Black/African American to audition for these roles

Rehearsals and performances for the 2021 Summer Festival will begin on May 20 and run through the end of July.

Audition Process

Audition requests are received exclusively through an online application process. Applications must be submitted no later than November 23, 2020. Please email auditions@cincinnatiopera.org with any questions.
