Minot State Univ. Teaching Job
Description
The Department of Fine and Performing Arts at Minot State University (https://www.minotstateu.edu/music/) invites applicants for the position of director of choral activities, choral music education specialist, and studio voice teacher beginning Fall Semester 2025. This is a tenure-track position appointed at the rank of Assistant Professor. Candidates will be expected to:
* Direct all facets of the MSU Choral Program including leading the MSU Concert Choir and smaller vocal ensembles
* Take a leading role in recruiting voice students to MSU
* Teach choral/vocal music education courses
* Teach voice lessons to music majors, music minors, and students enrolled in elective lessons
* Prepare voice students for performances during end-of-semester juries, performance lab classes, and senior recitals
* Teach additional courses related to area(s) of expertise and institutional needs
* In collaboration with the director of bands, plan and administer the annual Northwest Festival of Music (MSU’s annual honor choir and band festival)
* Maintain a high level of professional visibility and serve as a resource for regional public school music educators
Minimum Requirements
* Doctorate in Music (Conducting or Music Education) preferred; ABD will be considered. Completed degree will be required for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor.
* Evidence of excellence in applied instruction and voice pedagogy
