Description

The Philharmonic Society of Arlington proudly sponsors the Young Artist Competition for instrumental and vocal musicians under 30 years of age. This annual competition has been held since 1965. Our purposes are to identify, encourage, and provide exposure to promising young musicians, to grant them an audition experience, and to honor the top winners in each category with an opportunity to perform with our orchestra and/or chorale.

This year we will hold only the Tannenwald Division competition for contestants between the ages of 19 to 30 years old. As it was last year, this will be a two-round competition in which contestants must prepare and submit a YouTube video link of a vocal recital or concerto level performance with accompaniment. These videos will be evaluated and finalists will be invited to submit a second YouTube video. Tannenwald applicants must have a date of birth between April 10, 1991 and April 10, 2002.

Each entrant must provide the contest committee with biographical information as requested on the application form.

A NON-REFUNDABLE application fee of $40 must be received no later than 1 week after the application is submitted. If you are unable to make an on-line payment, please contact our Coordinator.

Competition Applications are due on or before April 10, 2021 and must include a YouTube link to the applicant's vocal recital or concerto-level performance with accompaniment. Finalists will be selected for a second video round on May 1, 2021 based on their video submission.

See website for specific recording requirements.

After a review of all initial video submissions, the competition committee will select finalists who will be notified by May 1, 2021.
