Description

The 25th annual Neil Semer Vocal Institute (NSVI) will take place in beautiful St. Stein am Rhein, Switzerland. It is an intensive and fun filled program of musical performance and in depth coaching and study. Past participants have sung at the Met, Paris Opera, New York City Opera, San Francisco Opera, Chicago Lyric, La Scala, Covent Garden, Glyndebourne, Bayreuth, Berlin Staatsoper, Santa Fe Opera, Dresden, Munich, Basel et.al., and on musical theatre stages around the world.

The student body is international, and has included talented singers from the US, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Spain, England, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, Poland, Mexico and Romania among others. The number of participants is limited to twenty, to insure sufficient individual attention and a high standard of work.

Neil Semer is an internationally recognized teacher of singing and gives workshops around the world. His main voice studio is in New York. He teaches regularly also in Toronto, London, Paris, Copenhagen, Amsterdam and throughout Germany.

His teaching combines the old Italian School of Bel Canto as described by Giovanni Battista Lamperti with understanding of vocal function. The focus is coordination of the heart, mind and body. His students sing leading roles in the most important opera houses around the world and star in Broadway productions. He has taught for the Canadian Opera Company, Royal Danish Opera, Norwegian Opera, Vancouver Opera, Cologne Opera and Hawaiian Opera and the original Broadway production of "Miss Saigon".
