Contemporary Theater Company Audition
Description
Fall Auditions: Sunday, ?July 24 from 12 pm - 2 pm and Tuesday, July 26 from 6 pm - 9 pm at the CTC.
?The Contemporary Theater Company will hold open auditions for its fall season - The Thanksgiving Play by Larissa FastHorse, directed by Tammy Brown, and A Christmas Story by Philip Grecian based on the motion picture A Christmas Story, directed by Matt Fraza.
Auditions slots will be 10 minutes. Email info@thecontemporarytheater.com to sign up. Please indicate in your email what time works best for you.
?All actors in these productions will receive a stipend. At the CTC we proudly employ and embrace non-traditional as well as color-conscious casting. Actors of Color are particularly encouraged to audition. ?All performers must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and have received a booster shot before beginning rehearsals.
?The Thanksgiving Play:
Good intentions collide with absurd assumptions in Larissa FastHorse’s wickedly funny satire, as a troupe of terminally “woke” teaching artists scrambles to create a pageant that somehow manages to celebrate both Turkey Day and Native American Heritage Month.
We'll have 2 read-throughs the week of August 21st, and rehearsals will officially begin the week of September 6 with 3-4 rehearsals per week.
Folks should prepare up to 2 contrasting, contemporary monologues, 5 minutes max. The Thanksgiving Play is a wild, yet earnest satire, so the monologues should reflect that tone if possible.
Must be over 16 to audition.
This play will be making its Broadway debut in spring 2023!
Check below for Cast Breakdown.
A Christmas Story:
You'll shoot your eye out! All the fun of this holiday favorite movie comes to the stage. Ralphie goes through all the difficulties of being a kid from bullies to embarrassment, but he has his eye on the prize this Christmas in his quest for a BB gun.
Roles for both adults and children. Stay tuned for a date for children's auditions.

?The Thanksgiving Play Cast Breakdown
LOGAN – Caucasian looking, the high school drama teacher that’s always pushing the envelope in potentially inappropriate ways. Earnest about theatre and proving herself.
JAXTON – Caucasian looking, yoga practitioner/actor. Politically correct to a fault, a big one. He’s that confident guy everyone loves, but his logical PC thinking takes weird turns.
ALICIA – Brunette, Caucasian looking but has looks that would have been cast as ethnic in 1950s movies. Without guile. Sexy and hot, but not bright.
CADEN – Caucasian looking, the academic. Awkward elementary school history teacher with dramatic aspirations but no experience.
The Contemporary Theater Company holds open auditions for most shows! We are committed to diverse casts and opportunities for actors of all races, genders, identities, and experience levels.
