The 2022 Scholarship Competition

The 2022 Evanston Music Club and North Shore Musicians Club Scholarship Competition is open to students attending colleges in Evanston and neighboring communities in the Chicago area. Vocalists between the ages of 18 and 28 and all other musicians between 18 and 25 are eligible to submit an application to audition. The application deadline is March 18, 2022.

Those chosen to audition will be notified by March 31, 2022.

Contestants should prepare a 12-minute program and should draw from music of different periods or styles. Singers should include an aria from an opera or oratorio. Each applicant must provide an accompanist if needed.

Auditions will be held on April 19, 2022. If conditions do not permit in-person auditions, semi-finalists will be asked to submit a recorded performance via YouTube (unlisted) by April 19, 2022.

Five finalists will be awarded $1200 each following a required live performance. We hope to have an in-person concert and reception on May 17, 2022. If this is not possible, finalists will be asked to perform via Zoom at one of two monthly meetings. In 2022, these meetings will be held at 1PM on Tuesday, May 17 and Monday, June 20. A decision on whether there will be an in-person concert and reception will be made by the application deadline (March 18).
