Project Inclusion fellows perform with the Grant Park Orchestra and Chorus in Chicago's Millennium Park for upwards of 10,000 people. Participants take part in master classes with world-renowned artists, including mezzo-soprano Susan Platts. During their residency, fellows also perform a joint recital on a high-profile concert series and have the opportunity to work one-on-one with conductors Carlos Kalmar and Christopher Bell.

QUALIFICATIONS

* The Grant Park Music Festival seeks one each: soprano, mezzo-soprano, tenor and bass

* Applicants must be 18-29 years of age at the time of application.

* Open to artists from communities that have been historically underrepresented in the field of classical voice, specifically Asian, Black, Native American, or Latinx artists.

* Fellows must commit to the entire duration of the program (June 1 - July 2, 2022). Project Inclusion Fellows will also return to perform at our GPMF Advocate for the Arts Awards on October 5, 2022 (flight/hotel covered).

* Candidate must be legally eligible to work in the United States and provide current visa.

* Candidate must be vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus.

* Must have a sincere interest in pursuing music as a career.

Please take a moment to carefully review the audition repertoire requirements below and the application instructions before beginning your application. Note: Candidates may audition with piano accompaniment, but it is not a requirement.

VIDEO AUDITION REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENTS

Submit videos with the following:

1. Contrasting solos from two of the following: oratorio, art song, or opera aria (max. four minutes each)

2. Excerpts - candidates should fully prepare and submit a video of the following choral excerpt(s):

ALL VOICES

Haydn, The Creation, Chorus "Awake the Harp"; mm. 11 - the end; quarter note=110

SOPRANO/MEZZO ONLY

Lauridsen, "Lux aeterna," movement 2, bars 1-12; half note=60; to be sung in straight-tone

Application and audition materials for all voices are due no later than 11:59PM Central Time on Friday, February 1, 2022. In an effort to keep the Project Inclusion Fellowship free and accessible to all, Grant Park Music Festival has subsidized the application fee for all applicants this year.

We look forward to receiving your audition materialsApplicants who are selected as finalists will be notified within one week after the video audition deadline and will be required to audition live at Grant Park Music Festival in Chicago on the date specified above. Candidates traveling more than 50 miles may qualify to receive a travel stipend of up to a maximum of $250 USD, depending on the distance traveled and order of application submission.
