Univ of Michigan looking for Collaborative Pianist for Winds and Percussion & Voice.

We are looking for an outstanding collaborator and coach who will serve the Winds and Percussion and Voice departments. The accompanist/coach will work privately in one-on-one sessions to help with musical preparation of a wide range of repertoire for lessons, studio classes, departmental juries, school-related competitions and degree recitals. The coach will work closely with the studio professors to help enrich the understanding of how to work with a collaborator and effectively prepare repertoire in a rehearsal setting.

Required Qualifications*

Experienced collaborative pianist and coach with a terminal degree in collaborative piano (or equivalent academic and professional experience), with a wide range of repertoire from the Baroque to Contemporary in both instrumental and vocal music. Experience contributing to a vibrant vocal arts, winds, brass and percussion program and proven dedication to the overall musical development of students. Extensive prior experience in collaboration and coaching, excellent sight-reading skills and exemplary rehearsal techniques are a necessity.

The ideal candidate will have extensive prior academic experience as a collaborator and coach, a documented history of successful collaboration and collegiality, a broad and thorough knowledge of vocal, winds, brass and percussion repertoire, exceptional sight-reading skills, efficient musical rehearsal technique, command of diction and comprehension in Italian, French, German, and English are essential, and must have knowledge of the collaborative field as it exists today.

This is a full time, seasonal appointment working 40 hours per week during the academic year, Sept 1 – April 30
