The 2021-22 Young Artists' Programme is full-time and runs from September 2021 to June 2022.
There is no upper age limit for applying to the NOS. However, applicants are reminded that the Young Artists' Programme is very intensive and is intended to benefit extremely gifted singers and répétiteurs who are at the beginning of their professional operatic careers. Although it is not a formal requirement, applicants are expected to have significant performance experience and to have been training, in some form, for a number of years.
In response to the Coronavirus and with a view to engaging more directly with potential 2021/22 Young Artists, we are offering a new restructured audition process. The First Round for the new intake of 2021 will be by video selection. From these, up to 45 candidates will be chosen and invited to attend the National Opera Studio in person over five days from Tuesday 23 February to Saturday 27 February 2021.
This year the First Round of auditions will be by video submission, and you will be asked to submit your recordings by 11:59pm on Thursday 7 January 2021. All applications must be submitted using YAP Tracker and there will be a fee of £25 which will include the submission of your first round video audition. Find out more about video audition requirements and submitting your videos here.
