Des Moines Metro Opera's Frank R. Brownell III Apprentice Artist Program

For 39 years OPERA Iowa has created magic -- in rural schools, city classrooms, cafeterias, community centers, concert halls and gymnasiums -- offering nearly one million young people and adults a quality arts experience today while building new enthusiastic audiences for opera tomorrow. One of the most innovative programs of its kind in the country, this successful 8-week regional arts education tour features a comprehensive classroom activities guide and curriculum-based education workshops, as well as performances designed specifically for young people and families.

DMMO will engage four singers to perform roles in touring productions of Cinderella (written and adapted by Joshua Borths with music by Rossini and Massenet) and The Billy Goats Gruff (arranged by John Davies with music by Mozart, Rossini and Donizetti). Casting as follows:

Soprano: Stepsister/Fairy Godmother (Cinderella), Lucy (The Billy Goats Gruff)

Mezzo-Soprano: Cinderella (Cinderella), Ernesto (The Billy Goats Gruff)

Tenor: Prince (Cinderella), Dandini (The Billy Goats Gruff)

Baritone: Stepfather/King (Cinderella), Osmin (The Billy Goats Gruff)
