Description

In the Institute for Singing/Music Theater of the Faculty I there is a Professorship W2 for Music Theater/Scene (m/f/d), reference number 09/2020, to be filled.

We are looking for a personality with several years of experience as an opera director, a good network in the professional field and extensive repertoire knowledge as well as teaching experience at university level and knowledge in personnel management.

The tasks of the professorship include in particular the artistic and organizational management of the music theater/scene area as well as the stylistically wide-ranging and practice-oriented teaching of the various scenic subjects of the Bachelor's and Master's program. Furthermore, the management of scenic projects and the development of student presentations are part of the field of activity.

The scope of the teaching obligations is 18 LVS.

The Chair of Music Theater/Scene is centrally responsible within the institute for the holistic and contemporary training of young singers in the scenic field, including the promotion and development of the subject canon. Thus, the readiness for close cooperation within the Institute for Singing/Musical Theater as well as with other institutes for inter-institute opera productions is expected. The maintenance of existing contacts and the initiation of new ones with theaters and opera houses, especially in Thuringia, is also part of the professorship's activity profile.

Prerequisites are a relevant university degree (master's degree, diploma, concert exam) or adequate, outstanding subject-related achievements in practice. A very good command of the German language (corresponding to language level C2) and a good command of the English language (corresponding to language level C1) as well as basic knowledge of Italian are expected. In addition, experience in team leadership and artistic process control is required. In addition, committed participation in academic self-administration and in inter-institutional and inter-faculty projects as well as in processes for the further development and profiling of the university, a high level of communication and leadership skills, as well as team and integration skills are required.

Further tasks and employment requirements are based on §§ 83, 84 Thüringer Hochschulgesetz (ThürHG). It is pointed out that in the case of a first appointment, the employment is usually initially on a temporary basis. (§ 86 paragraph 1 ThürHG).

In order to meet the high requirements of the job profile, it is expected that the job holder(s) take up residence in Weimar or the surrounding area.
