Stetson Univ. Teaching Job
Description
Stetson University seeks an outstanding musician and educator as for a full-time, nine-month position as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Music in Voice. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track 9-month position beginning in August 2025, with potential for renewal.
QUALIFICATION:
The successful candidate will bring a proven record of performance excellence and effective teaching experience to Stetson’s undergraduate-only voice program. A broad knowledge of vocal repertoire is necessary, as is a passion for working with undergraduate students. We are especially interested in candidates who have a strong commitment to all aspects of diversity in our learning-centered community. Teaching expertise and experience in additional core music areas is desirable, as is demonstrated success at recruiting, retaining, and mentoring voice students from diverse backgrounds. A doctoral degree or
ABD status is preferred; however, a master’s degree and significant performing and teaching experience may be acceptable in lieu of a terminal degree.
Qualified candidates should submit the following items via email to voicesearch2025@stetson.edu:
(1) a cover letter
(2) a curriculum vitae
(3) a list of 3 references
(4) links to a recent singing performance video (recorded within the past two years), featuring two pieces with a total duration of under ten minutes.
In the cover letter, candidates should address the stated qualifications and responsibilities and are encouraged to highlight skills and experiences that demonstrate a commitment to social justice, diversity, and inclusion, and to leadership in the education of undergraduate students of highly diverse backgrounds. Additional materials (including voice teaching videos) may be requested at a later stage. Initial screening
of materials will begin immediately, and will continue until the position is filled, with an anticipated conclusion to the search in mid-April. Please direct inquiries and nominations to Dr. Karen Coker Merritt, Search Committee Chair, at kcmerritt@stetson.edu.
