Norwegian National Opera

The Norwegian National Opera Chorus (chorus master Martin Wettges) are looking for a classically trained professional bass with stage and chorus experience. We have one vacant full-time bass 2 position from the beginning of august 2022.

Audition date for selected candidates: May 16 2022

Commencement date : August 8 2022 or by agreement

All candidates should prepare three memorized operatic arias of their own choice and some chorus excerpts which will be announced after the selected candidates receive their invitations to audition. The three arias ought to be of different styles and languages, including one baroque/classical aria and one romantic aria. An accompanist will be provided.

Sight reading proficiency may also be tested, as well as taking instructions from a director.

Qualifications

you have a degree in singing from a recognized institution

you feel at home in both opera and concert repertoire, as a soloist and as a chorister

you have decent acting skills and love performing

you are a true team player and feel comfortable in a chorus

you have a positive, inquiring and flexible attitude

We will emphasize personal skills. The position will demand a lot of work in evenings and weekends.
