The Conservatory of Music at the University of the Pacific announces a full-time, tenure-track appointment for Assistant Professor of Voice. We are seeking a dynamic and innovative teacher/performer whose background, professional performing accomplishments, and pedagogy will attract and retain students to the wide variety of program offerings at Pacific’s Conservatory. Excellent applied lesson teaching is the primary responsibility in addition to teaching Vocal Diction, Vocal Pedagogy, and related courses. The selected candidate will teach music majors in an array of degree programs and in an array of vocal styles including jazz, popular music, musical theatre, and classical repertoires. Audio and/or video recordings may be requested later.
Essential Functions or Duties:
Proven expertise as an innovative performer and teacher, conversant with contemporary music, and skilled in a range of classical and contemporary vocal pedagogies.
An ability to attract, develop and mentor forward-thinking student musicians at levels appropriate to their major.
Potential for increasingly national reach as a vocal performer and collaborator in professional and educational settings.
Being a part of a highly motivated and invested faculty that puts student learning at the forefront of the university’s mission.
Minimum Qualifications
An earned doctorate, or the equivalent professional experience in the field of vocal performance, is an emerging record of achievement as a teacher and performer.
