Eastern Kentucky Univ seeks Director of School of Music.

The primary responsibilities of the Director of School of Music are to:

Lead the faculty, staff, and students of the School of Music in a way that cultivates the best of individuals and furthers the vision of the school;

Advocate and speak for the School of Music within the Institute of Creative and Collaborative Arts, College of Letters,Arts and Social Sciences, the University, and the larger community

Work collaboratively with faculty and staff to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of the School’s operations, including its staffing, curriculum, program offerings, and public events;

Support ongoing professional development in specific diversity competencies such as culturally responsive pedagogy, racial literacy, gender equity, and LGBTQ+ inclusion;

Oversee and organize annual events like the Foster Music Camp that are opportunities for community engagement and student recruitment

In collaboration with the Executive Director of the Institute, manage fiscal and business resources through financial planning and strategy

Manage and mentor personnel to promote individual professional development and collaborations among colleagues and between faculty and students;

Support innovations in teaching, research, and creative activity;

Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in areas of expertise to a diverse student population

Assist the Executive Director, Dean and Development in donor cultivation and the stewardship of major gifts.

Minimum Qualifications

PhD, DMA, MFA, MM or appropriate terminal degree from an accredited or internationally recognized institution.

Evidence of administration and excellence in teaching, scholarship/creative activity, and service

An ongoing engagement with the field including familiarity with a broad range of historic and contemporary practices in pedagogy, scholarship, and artistry.

Record of leadership in supporting faculty and student development leading to increased equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Significant experience in fiscal oversight and management.

Commitment to establishing and maintaining the confidence of faculty, staff, students, alumni, and the professional community.
