The University of Kansas School of Music seeks to fill a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor and Director of Choral Activities to begin August 18, 2021. The successful candidate will be surrounded by colleagues who share your passion for artistic expression and educating students, creating professional opportunities in the field and eager to create new ways for engagement in learning, research and service.

Job Description

Responsible for the artistic, administrative, and visionary leadership of the University choral program; conduct the premiere University choral ensemble; work individually and collaboratively in student recruitment, including building and maintaining productive relationships with public school choral programs.

Teach graduate conducting, choral literature and related classes, and supervise/mentor choral teaching assistants; hold regular office hours.

Establish a research/creative agenda pursuant of artistic growth and an expanding reputation of excellence at the national or international levels.

Work cooperatively in support of the School of Music and the University, including service on graduate and faculty committees; participate actively in the cultural and intellectual life of the School and the University; and/or professional service in professional organizations.

Required Qualifications

Doctoral degree in music or related field.

Demonstrated success leading a large and/or diverse choral program.

Record of successful teaching excellence at the collegiate level.
