June 13 - 19, 2022

Content: Early Music, concentrating on music of Claudio Monteverdi

Main focus for Singers - Young Artist/Emerging Pro; also coaching for conductors and continuo players

A week-long immersion in the music of CLAUDIO MONTEVERDI (1567-1643):

a) Rehearsal in choral and smaller ensembles (duos, trios, etc)

b) One-on-one coaching in specific techniques/repertoire

c) Instruction in pronunciation, ornamentation

d) Lecture/recital on historical context

e) Opportunities for coaching for conductors and continuo playing

f) Formal and informal performances in Duke Chapel and elsewhere

g) High quality video recording of formal performances

h) Distinguished faculty of active performers and teachers

i) Repertoire includes both sacred and secular music, from Monteverdi's "Selva morale" and Books of Madrigals.
