Description
The Instructor of Music (Voice) will be responsible for teaching applied voice lessons in classical, musical theatre, and contemporary commercial styles. The person in this position will also teach other music courses based on candidate qualifications, interests, and experience.
The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester; courses may be assigned as in-person, online, hybrid, or via distance delivery modalities. Scholarship in the discipline, involvement with advising, and service to the department and profession are expected.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Teach applied voice lessons to music majors and minors, musical theatre majors, and non-majors
Vocal styles taught will include classical, musical theatre, and contemporary commercial music
Teach other music courses as assigned
Assist with recruiting for the voice area
Assist with advising for the voice area
Maintain a limited schedule of creative activities
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience
Masters degree in music.
Ability and desire to teach undergraduate voice lessons
Ability to teach sound pedagogical singing in CCM styles
Effective teaching, enthusiasm for working with and an ability to inspire undergraduate students, and effective communication skills are required
