Walgreens Corporation’s annual sponsorship enables MYAC to provide an outstanding panel of judges, written performance evaluations and a performance goal to work towards over the winter holiday breaks.

Eligibility Requirements

There are 2 Divisions:

Midwest Young Artists Conservatory (MYAC) Orchestra Division*

Open Division

*Students in the MYAC Division must be active participants in the MYAC Orchestral Program. All other entrants will be entered in the Open Division including MYAC Chamber Only, Jazz, and Choral students.

Each division has 2 levels:

Junior: for students in 8th grade or younger

Senior: for students in 9th through 12th grades (students that are under the age of 18 and in college can enter the Senior division as well)

Each level is broken into instrument categories:

Winds and Percussion

Early Music*

*Please note: Students are automatically entered in the Early Music category if the piece they are performing was written before 1800. Strings, harpsichord, recorders, gamba, winds, and brass are encouraged to participate in this category.

The competition will be held virtually. You must submit a single, uninterrupted tape of yourself performing the entire movement of your concerto with an accompanist. This must be played from memory, and no edits may be made to the video.

See website for complete repertoire and recording requirements.

The competition entry fee is $60 for the Open Division and $40 for MYAC students (MYAC students who are not a part of an MYAC Orchestra pay $40 and are entered into the Open Division).

All entry forms must be submitted online. Fees are non-refundable and must be paid online by 11:59 pm on December 1, 2020 or by check postmarked by December 1st, 2020.
