Univ of South Dakota is seeking Assistant or Associate Professor of Music Tenor, Baritone, or Bass Voice.
Full-time, nine month, tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor. Teach studio voice. Excellence in teaching is expected — both in the classroom and in mentoring students outside the classroom. Other duties may include, but are not limited to teaching song literature, pedagogy, opera workshop, and/or diction classes, serving on graduate committees, overseeing independent study projects as appropriate to appointee’s qualifications, and additional assignments to meet departmental needs. As part of a normal workload the candidate may be asked to teach online courses. All faculty are expected to be active in recruitment in their area as well as the entire department, in research/creative scholarship, and in service to the department, college, university, and beyond. Excellence in teaching and research/creative scholarship is will be expected. Participation in Inclusive Excellence by undertaking outreach to diverse communities (multicultural student organizations, Native American community, LGBTIQ community, Latino community, veterans, women, etc.) both on and off campus is encouraged. Appointment begins Fall 2021.
Doctorate in vocal performance or vocal pedagogy or closely related field. ABD considered. Experience teaching or directing opera preferred. Experience teaching in the areas of vocal diction, pedagogy and song literature preferred.
