Lincoln University seeks Applied Vocal Instructor / Assistant Professor Rank (Tenure Track).

Essential duties and responsibilities include: Applied Music Instruction in vocal studies which will include song literature, diction, and vocal pedagogy. The successful candidate will have an ability to assist with stage productions and the recruitment of vocal studies students. This position also requires service on departmental committees and attendance at faculty meetings.

EDUCATION:

Master’s degree required. Doctorate or ABD with date certain for completion by start of appointment.

EXPERIENCE:

Must have experience performing / teaching music from a wide variety of genres and cultures, with emphasis on music of African-American composers. A minimum of three-years of teaching experience at the College/University level.

QUALIFICATIONS:

3 or more years of University level teaching

Research & professional engagement in music

Integrating vocal/music into educational programs and initiatives

Assessment of curriculum and student learning outcomes

Course development related to professional experience and program needs

Developing and assessing student juries, recitals and other required performances

Developing relationships with outside institutions, which have led to internship and other professional opportunities for students

Communication skills consistent with effective teaching, mentoring and motivating Music majors from a broad range of cultural, ethnic, and economic backgrounds

REQUIREMENTS:

Take the lead in preparing Music students in completing a successful Writing Proficiency Portfolio

Be a contributing member of departmental and university initiatives, advise students and recruit students to the Music Program

Maintain active professional engagement and research, which are required for promotion and tenure consideration

Develop and oversee vocal/music lecture series on campus and/or remotely

Identify and develop vocal/music related internship and training opportunities at cultural organizations; and provide career development programs

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teach Varied Vocal Lessons

Engage in enhancing the student Recital experience including assessment

Teach First Year Experience

Serve on faculty standing committee(s)
