Description
Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas (CCGD) seeks a dynamic, visionary, highly experienced conductor, music educator and leader to serve as its Artistic Director beginning with the 2022-23 season. This position will oversee the musical operations and artistic direction of the chorus including selection of singers, leadership of artistic staff and choral operations management, conducting of some choirs and ensembles, and oversight of all choirs and ensembles. Cynthia Nott, who has been Artistic Director since 1997, will step down from her position after the 2021-22 season as she celebrates retirement.
The successful candidate will be an excellent musician with a love and respect for children, a passion for and knowledge of vocal development, an understanding of the young singer, and a desire to share great music with them. The candidate must be skilled in coaching individual singer’s vocal technique in a rehearsal setting, have excellent vocal skills, excellent conducting ability, good rehearsal piano skills, and a commitment to CCGD’s mission.
The Artistic Director represents CCGD in the DFW arts community. The ideal candidate for this position is an inspirational visionary and an experienced music educator with a successful track record. S/he is confident, musically curious, artistically adventurous, and a committed collaborator. The Artistic Director embraces CCGD’s vibrant and innovative arts community and will position CCGD as a leading institution in the region.
The preferred candidate has a Master of Arts or Ph.D. in choral conducting or music education with five years of related experience in teaching and rehearsing a variety of musical styles and genres, with demonstrated success in working with children’s choruses and in producing and conducting performances of exceptional quality; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
