Paid Section leader/Song Leader The successful candidate should demonstrate proficiency in reading music, both in various clefs as well as the full score. Candidates should have knowledge of styles of various eras in choral music, such as chant, polyphony, and large SATB choral works of all eras, including spirituals.
The choir has routinely scheduled Wednesday evening rehearsals two times a month for two and a half hours throughout the year with the EXCEPTION of preparing for Christmas and Easter which usually runs twice a week leading up to two weeks. Rehearsals begin in August and the choir begins the season from September to May.
Additional and required programming as choristers includes:
Christmas Concert – Dec 25 at 11:00 p.m.
Christmas at Midnight Mass – Dec 25 at 12:00 a.m.
Holy Thursday – April 1, at 7:00 p.m.
Good Friday Service – April 2, at 7:00 p.m.
Easter Vigil Mass – April 3, at 8:30 p.m.
Solemnities of the Church – March 19, November 1st and 2nd, December 8 Sacrament of Confirmation determined by the Bishop anytime (March to June)
Song Leader duties include:
Approximately once masses per month of song leader leadership both with and without a choir. Weddings as assigned and accepted by the song leader Holydays as assigned and accepted by the song leader
All Singers must wear their mask/face covering, covering their nose and mouth at all times.
Singers will be 5 to 6 feet apart with no more than 14 over 6 pews stagger.
Rehearsal and Service are performed in the church music area, the area is completed sanitized after every use; disinfecting wipes and hand sanitizer are kept in the area for use.
Compensation: Negotiable, however funerals and weddings are fixed-rate stipends.
