St. Michael's Church, Camden Audition
Church/Temple, Classical/Opera, Volunteer, Chorus
Description
The Choir of St Michael's, Camden have just started up again following lockdown. We currently have vacancies for altos, tenors, and basses.
In pre-COVID times, we've explored repertoire from Byrd's Infelix Ego to Howells' Gloucester, St Paul's and Col Reg services, Leighton's 2nd, and Christmas carols by Elizabeth Maconchy.
Currently, we're operating on a much smaller scale, but are continuing to focus on music from the renaissance and the early-mid 20th Century periods. Whilst congregational singing is banned, we're fitting in as much plainsong as we can. We have singers from a wide range of musical backgrounds, quite often those who've sung as Oxford/Cambridge scholars. We have to work through music quite quickly, so excellent reading/blending are a must.
As you'll see from the photo I've included, it's an incredible building to sing in (with a beautiful acoustic to match), just north of Regent's Park. If it's of interest, do please email richard.miller@posp.co.uk to enquire about joining.
