The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Director, School of Music, College of Fine Arts [R0128480].

The Director serves as the administrator in charge of the department in each college/school. As such s/he is responsible for overseeing all department activities, including workload/scheduling, curriculum, student concerns, budgets and financial matters, personnel issues, policy, compliance, and departmental climate.

The Chair/Director is responsible for administering the day-to-day operation of the department and implementing its strategic priorities. This work involves overseeing faculty activities, including workload and schedules, faculty and staff recruitment and hiring processes, hiring part-time instructors, faculty and staff mentoring, overseeing the promotion and tenure process, conducting faculty and staff annual evaluations, monitoring enrollments, curriculum and program oversight, managing department budgets, and facilitation of conflict resolution.

This position requires a Doctorate (DMA, DM, or PhD) or Terminal Degree (MM, MFA or equivalent) in a music discipline from a regionally accredited college or university. Professional and/or academic accomplishments as a performer, scholar, or teacher commensurate with the rank of associate professor with tenure. These include:

A combination of a terminal academic degree (varies based on discipline) and significant professional experience

Past experience in a School of Music setting such as Department Chair, Area Coordinator, or other

Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.
