Description
The Department of Music seeks an instructor of voice to start in August 2021. The preferred candidate is accomplished in performing across diverse musical styles and performance traditions, specifically including Jazz, Broadway, and Classical. Primary job duties would include teaching voice lessons to music majors and non-majors, facilitating studio classes, and attending all meetings as required by the department and the vocal area. The candidate may also be asked to teach courses or lead a vocal jazz ensemble within the department which align with their areas of strength and/or interest and support the mission of the jazz and voice areas. In accordance with our mission as a land grant, flagship institution, we particularly welcome applications from those committed to recruiting, mentoring, and teaching students from diverse musical backgrounds, especially first-generation college students.
The successful candidate will join a vibrant faculty and department growing in size and national recognition, forging a diverse culture of thinking within the existing professional undergraduate curriculum. In addition, resources are available to support the new faculty member’s research, creative scholarship and/or creative practice.
Interested candidates are invited to submit their qualifications for a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of instructor. Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in music or a related area conferred by the time of appointment
Demonstrated active or developing research, scholarship or creative activity agenda
Demonstrated excellent body of performance work
Demonstrated excellence in writing and interpersonal communication skills
Demonstrated success working collaboratively
Demonstrated commitment to the field of Vocal Pedagogy and Music Education
