Cleveland State University’s School of Music is searching for a full-time, non-tenure track appointment as an Assistant College Lecturer in Voice beginning August 22, 2022. Duties will include teaching undergraduate and graduate applied voice, coordinating the voice area by working to align content and pedagogy with current trends and best practices in a wide range of vocal styles (e.g., classical/bel canto, gospel, jazz, music theatre, pop, world) and the characteristics of students in an urban university; directing the Opera/Music Theatre Workshop; diction and possibly other courses within the applicants’ specialization. Other responsibilities will include serving on institutional committees, recruiting undergraduate and graduate students, and related service.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in vocal pedagogy, vocal performance, or a closely related field.
A strong understanding of foundational vocal technique, and the ability to teach vocal technique.
Significant experience performing and teaching in at least two of these vocal styles: classical/bel canto, gospel, jazz, music theatre, pop, world.
Ability to contribute to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the institution through teaching, service, and community engagement.
Strong organizational skills.
