Cincinnati Opera Audition
Description
Auditions for Cincinnati Opera’s 2022 Summer Festival Chorus and mainstage roles will be held in the Music Hall May Festival Rehearsal Hall, 1244 Central Parkway, Cincinnati, Ohio, November 18-20, 2021. Applications are to be completed through an online application process. All applicants have the option to audition in person with strict COVID-19 safety protocols, or to submit a virtual audition. In-person and virtual auditions are considered equal and will receive the same grading and consideration.
The Cincinnati Opera Chorus and mainstage roles are paid, professional engagements under the jurisdiction of AGMA, the American Guild of Musical Artists. Residents from outside of the greater Cincinnati area are welcome and encouraged to audition. However, applicants should be aware that most chorus members and smaller mainstage roles tend to be cast locally.
Cincinnati Opera seeks applicants for the following mainstage roles:
* La Bohème: Benoit, a landlord (bass); Alcindoro, admirer of Musetta (bass); Parpignol, a toy vendor (tenor); Custom-House Officer (bass); Sergeant (bass); Child (Act II - boy’s solo, treble); Prune Man (tenor)
* Fierce (world premiere): Morgan (soprano)
* The Pirates of Penzance: Sergeant of Police (bass); Samuel (baritone); Edith (mezzo-soprano or soprano); Kate (mezzo-soprano); Isabel (soprano)
Rehearsals and performances for the 2022 Summer Festival will begin in late May and run through the end of July.
Audition Process
Audition requests are received exclusively through an online application process. Applications must be submitted no later than November 5, 2021. Please email auditions@cincinnatiopera.org with any questions.
