SEEKING SIX PAID STAFF SINGERS

(one soprano, one alto, two tenors, & two basses)

First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale seeks six professional staff singers to join the Cathedral Choir. Rehearsals begin on Thursday, September 1, 2022. The repertoire spans everything from traditional sacred literature and plainchant to spirituals, Taizé, and newly composed works. Solo opportunities available.

Skills Required:

• Excellent vocal technique with strong abilities as a soloist.

• Control over vocal color, with flexibility to navigate a spectrum of light and dark tone.

• Technical control over vibrato, from molto vibrato to senza vibrato.

• Ability to vocally lead a section while complementing a uniform ensemble sound.

• Excellent sight-reading skills.

• Other ensemble skills: punctuality, patience, preparedness, and flexibility.

• A positive spirit and welcoming demeanor that fosters an inclusive environment for all singers. :-)

Schedule:

• September through May

• Rehearsals every Thursday evening from 7:00pm-9:00pm.

• Church service every Sunday morning at 11:00am (call time 10:30am)

• Saturday rehearsals from 10:00am-1:00pm for specific dates:

o 2022: 11/12, 11/19, 12/3, 12/10, & 12/17

o 2023: 2/18, 3/4, 3/11, 3/18, & 3/25

• Concerts:

o Sunday, December 18, 2022 at 4pm

o Sunday, March 26, 2023 at 7pm

• End of choir season is May 28, 2023.

Compensation: $150 per week ($75 per call), or more.
