Royal Swedish Opera

The Chorus of the Royal Swedish Opera is Sweden’s largest professional chorus and one of the oldest in the world, founded in 1773. The chorus consists of 54 full-time choristers who take part in the vast majority of all opera productions, which are performed throughout the season.

The position

Two vacancies for Tenor 2 full-time, permanent employment with probationary year commencing 1 July 2022 or by agreement.

Your profile

Details of education in music or postgraduate studies in opera are requested, and further details of experience as a member of an opera chorus are desirable.

You should have a good proficiency in either English or Swedish. If you cannot currently speak Swedish you are expected to have an interest in learning Swedish.

Audition

Auditions will take place on Saturday 9 February 2022, by invitation and upon review of applications.

Kuda, kuda (Eugene Onegin)

De’ miei bollenti spiriti (La Traviata)

An aria of your own choice in a contrasting language to that of your prescribed aria. The audition will also involve tests in sight-reading, stagecraft, an ensemble test and an interview.
