The Congregational Church of Manhasset Audition
Description
The Congregational Church of Manhasset is seeking a Soprano section leader for part-time employment. The Church has a rich musical tradition and has 8 professional singers in the choir. The choir season begins in early September and ends in the middle of June. The time commitment is one evening rehearsal on the first Thursday of each month, one rehearsal after church on the third Sunday of each month, and one Sunday service per week with pre-service rehearsal beginning at 9:15 am.
Compensation for 2023–24 Season:
-Thursday evening two-hour rehearsal: $140 (first Thursday of the month)
-Sunday worship service with pre–Service 30-minute rehearsal: $140 (all Sundays other than the third Sunday of the month)
-Sunday worship service with after service 60- to 90-minute rehearsal: $200 (third Sunday of the month)
Those interested may contact the music director via email (below) for more information. Applicants should submit their resume and recordings (video preferred) of two pieces of contrasting styles. It would be helpful to include an art song/aria/lied/etc. and a contrasting selection that is preferably (though not required) contemporary, musical theatre, or similar. Skilled sight-reading is required. Applicants who are selected during the screening of recordings will be invited as finalists to audition in person for the Music Committee. Those finalists will be asked two sing two contrasting selections and will sight read a short selection. We will be closing the application period on Oct. 6, 2023.
