Metropolitan Opera

The Metropolitan Opera Chorus will conduct remote auditions to staff the Extra Chorus for the 2021 – 2022 season, which will include a revival of the recent Porgy and Bess production. These remote auditions will also serve as preliminary consideration for full-time openings in the Regular Chorus, for which in-person auditions will be held at a later date. Submissions for consideration are subject to the following criteria:

Anyone who auditioned for the Metropolitan Opera Chorus or Extra Chorus during the 2019-2020 season should not submit anything. That audition will serve as your audition for the 2021 - 2022 season.

Anyone who performed in the Metropolitan Opera Extra Chorus during the 2019 – 2020 season should not submit anything. Your rehearsal and performance as an Extra Chorister at Metropolitan Opera in the 2019 – 2020 season will serve as your audition for the 2021 – 2022 season.

All other interested applicants should submit via email addressed to ChorusAuditions@metopera.org the following materials:

* in the subject line of the email, please format: Last Name, First Name; Voice Type; AGMA or non-AGMA

* a current one-page resume which includes the names and contact information of two professional references and a photo/headshot

* Name of aria and source opera presented in video submission.

* a Link to a Video of applicant singing an operatic aria. The aria should demonstrate the applicant’s ability to sing lyrically. *See important guidelines at the bottom of this announcement for Video Submissions.

Applications must be received on or before 12 midnight EST, January 31st 2021. Submissions received after this date, regardless of email transmission time, will not be considered.
