Description

Auditions now thru Monday April 12, 2021.

We are THRILLED to announce that we will be doing Shrek the Musical this summer, marking it as the FIRST Opera House Players Summer Theater production! This show is for performers ages 8-22 years old. Shrek the Musical show dates will be the weekend of August 20th-22nd! This is going to be such a fun, joy-filled summer, which we all know is MUCH needed after the year that we’ve had.

We are so happy to have such an amazing creative team, listed above, working with us on this production!

Please note, while we would love to have all auditionees come work and play with us this summer, we may not be able to assign parts to everyone who auditions this year. We will be making all casting decisions solely based on audition submissions, and may have to limit our cast size to some degree due to COVID restrictions.

The first cast read through will be on May 10th from 6:30-8:30 over Zoom. We will start with virtual music and choreography rehearsals once or twice a week in May. In-person rehearsals in June will be taking place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30-8:30 with one rehearsal each weekend. Not everyone will be called to these rehearsals and a schedule will be shared with the cast at the read through. Due to some of the limitations of this rehearsal structure, we will expect actors to work on music, dialogue, and choreography at home to help us make the most of our time together. It is *mandatory* for everyone to be at the tech week rehearsals, which are August 15th-19th, and of course the show, which is August 20th-22nd.

All COVID guidelines will be followed throughout the rehearsal process, and we will provide detailed safety rules and guidelines to the cast and crew, based on the most up-to-date guidelines from the State of Connecticut. Masks will be worn at all times unless it is an outdoor, socially distanced rehearsal. The goal is for us to have a live-streamed performance in addition to hopefully having audience members in attendance as long as COVID restrictions deem it safe to do so. Safety is our number one priority!

There’s a LOT of information on the following audition pages and multiple steps to follow to complete your audition, so please take your time and read through it carefully. If you have any questions at all, feel free to reach out to the directors by emailing duganerin77@gmail.com and julianne.thouin@gmail.com
